Jecheon City Library Hosts Diverse Events for '26 Library Week
In celebration of the 62nd Library Week, Jecheon City Library hosted the "2026 Library Week Events" throughout the month of April.
Under the theme "Small Unfolding in the Library, Big Opening That Opens the World," the events were held simultaneously at Jecheon City Library as well as the Nambu, Yeoseong, and Bongyang Libraries, providing citizens with opportunities to enjoy diverse reading cultures.
In particular, during Library Week from April 12 to 18, experience-oriented programs were intensively operated to help citizens feel more comfortable with the libraries.
At Jecheon City Library, programs stimulating the five senses were held, including a creative fairy tale music concert, the reading experience program "Cupcake Party," the lending event "Fingertips Unfolding the World," and the children's craft experience "Making the World's Smallest Book."
At Nambu Library, the family astronomical observation program "The Universe of a Spring Night at the Library" and the percussion performance "Knock! The event "Knock!" and the hands-on program "Springtime Library, Blooming Bookshelf" received a great response.
At the Women's and Bongyang Libraries, various programs were also operated for all age groups to participate in, including "Busy Hands Library," glass art "Sparkling Suncatcher," and eco-friendly craft "Making Jesmonite Vases."
Exhibitions and events held throughout April also drew visitors to the libraries. Unique book curations and original artwork exhibitions, such as "Library Picnic" and "Book Blind Date," were held regularly, while the "To Those Who Forgot to Return" event, which restored borrowing privileges for users whose access was suspended due to overdue books, contributed to revitalizing library usage.
One citizen who participated in the event said, "It was an even more special time because I could go beyond just reading books at the library and participate in book-related activities." Another citizen shared their thoughts, stating, "It was a meaningful experience to be able to watch performances that are usually difficult to access and participate in hands-on activities," adding, "I think I will visit the library more often in the future." The Director of the Jecheon City Library stated, “Thanks to the many citizens who visited the library, it became a more vibrant space throughout the month of April,” adding, “We will continue to strive to establish ourselves as a friendly local community space where citizens can comfortably stay.”
Meanwhile, the Jecheon City, Nambu, Yeoseong, and Bongyang Libraries plan to continue various events in May to celebrate Family Month and Children's Day. Further details can be obtained by checking the announcements on the library's website or by contacting the Jecheon City Library.
