South Jeolla Province Conducts Final Comprehensive Inspection Two Weeks Ahead of Launch of ‘Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City’
Attended Comprehensive Inspection Meeting Hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety… Focused Discussions on Continuity of Public Services and Infrastructure Improvement - All-out Effort to Minimize Inconvenience for City and Provincial Residents, Including Nighttime Data Transitions and Advance Notices for Temporary Suspensions of Civil Services
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = With the launch of the 'Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City' just two weeks away, South Jeolla Province has embarked on a final administrative inspection to ensure a successful and stable launch.
South Jeolla Province announced that on the 15th, it attended the ‘Comprehensive Inspection Meeting on Preparations for the Launch of Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City,’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, to share the progress of key integration tasks and intensively review measures to ensure the continuity of public services.
The meeting was attended by a large number of relevant ministries, including South Jeolla Province, Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Attendees shared the progress of integration by sector and engaged in in-depth discussions on future plans and key pending issues requiring prompt resolution.
In particular, to prevent administrative gaps and confusion among residents immediately following the launch, this meeting focused on reviewing areas such as the revision of local ordinances, infrastructure maintenance including information systems, integrated reception of civil administrative services and notification of temporary suspensions, and the integration of administrative operational systems.
Jeonnam Province placed the utmost emphasis on maintaining the continuity of public administrative services that residents can experience firsthand. To minimize inconvenience caused by the actual data conversion and integration work of major administrative information systems, the province plans to conduct related tasks during nighttime hours, outside of regular business hours, whenever possible.
Furthermore, in anticipation of the temporary suspension of online civil services such as "Government 24" during the integration process, the province intends to prevent public confusion by intensively publicizing to residents the types of services being suspended, available operating hours, and the necessity of pre-issuance. Hwang Ki-yeon, Administrative Vice Governor of South Jeolla Province, emphasized, “The launch of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City is now just two weeks away,” adding, “We will thoroughly review progress in each sector during the remaining period to ensure the Integrated Special City sets sail stably.”
He continued, “We will provide sufficient advance notice to ensure that residents of the city and province do not experience any inconvenience on the launch day, July 1, and we will perfectly ensure the continuity of administrative services.”
