Jeonnam Office of Education Completes Installation of Commemorative Plaques at 63 Schools Marking ‘100th Anniversary’

Re-evaluating the Value of ‘100-Year Tradition’ Amidst Declining School-Age Population – Featuring the Message “100-Year Tradition, Leaping Toward the Future!”… Additional Expansion Planned for the Second Half

(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Jeollanam-do Office of Education has completed a meaningful project to commemorate schools in the province that boast a long history and tradition, and to boost the pride of the educational community.

The Jeonnam Office of Education recently announced that it completed the installation of commemorative plaques at a total of 63 schools during the first half of this year, having promoted the ‘100th Anniversary Commemorative Plaque Production and Installation Project’ to honor the history and traditions of schools.

This project was organized to reflect on the historical value of schools that have steadfastly served as pillars of regional education for a century, even amidst difficult conditions such as the recent crisis of regional extinction and a decline in the school-age population. The Jeonnam Office of Education received applications following a needs assessment of schools and proceeded with the production and installation of customized plaques, taking into account the specific conditions and surrounding environments of each school.

The commemorative plaques are inscribed with a future-oriented message: "100 Years of Tradition, Leaping Toward the Future!" Produced in both indoor and outdoor versions to suit the specific school spaces, they visually capture the unique history and symbolism of each school, receiving a positive response from both school members and local residents.

The Jeonnam Office of Education plans to conduct an additional needs assessment in the second half of the year, not stopping at the achievements of the first half. Through this, they intend to continuously identify schools that have not yet received plaques and those newly celebrating their 100th anniversaries, thereby expanding the project.

An official from the Office of Education stated, "Schools that have served as cradles for nurturing local talent for a century are valuable assets to Jeonnam education," adding, "We hope that the installation of these plaques will instill a sense of pride in the schools among students and alumni, and furthermore, serve as an opportunity for the local community to reflect once again on the value of these schools."
