(브레이크뉴스 전남광주) 이학수 기자=전남광주통합특별시가 자매결연 지역인 중국 장시성의 장시중의약대학교 교류단 23명을 초청해 오는 31일까지 7박 8일 일정으로 청소년 국제교류 행사를 진행한다.
이번 행사는 두 지역 청소년이 서로의 역사와 문화를 이해하고 국제적 역량을 키워 미래 인재로 성장하는 계기를 마련하기 위해 추진됐다.
전남광주특별시와 장시성은 지난 2009년부터 청소년 교류를 이어오고 있다. 지금까지 총 22회에 걸쳐 1,022명이 참여했으며, 그동안 쌓아온 교류 성과와 우호 관계를 바탕으로 지역 통합 이후에도 두 지역 간 청소년 교류는 지속·확대되는 추세다.
25일 열린 환영식에는 전남광주특별시와 장시성 청소년, 관계자 등 50여 명이 참석했다. 참석자들은 전통문화 공연과 교류 프로그램, 지역 역사·문화 소개 등을 함께하며 서로를 이해하고 친밀감을 다졌다.
교류단은 방문 기간 동안 목포 해상케이블카, 국립아시아문화전당(ACC), 순천만국가정원 등을 찾아 지역의 다채로운 역사와 문화를 직접 체험한다. 또한 나주 동신대학교 한의과대학과 전남대학교를 방문해 지역 우수 교육환경을 살펴보는 대학 탐방 일정도 소화할 예정이다.
박종필 전남광주통합특별시 인재육성교육국장은 “이번 교류가 두 지역 청소년이 국경을 넘어 우정을 나누고 서로의 문화와 가치를 깊이 이해하는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 장시성과의 지속적인 교류 확대를 통해 지역 청소년들이 글로벌 역량을 한층 강화할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
