Jeonnam Development Corporation Donates 500 Million Won for 'Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force' Project… Cumulative 1.8 Billion Won in 'Generous Giving'
Presentation Ceremony Held with Governor Kim Young-rok in Attendance; Funds Deployed to Identify Crisis Households and Resolve Living Inconveniences in 22 Cities and Counties in the Province- Simultaneously Conducting Volunteer Work to Improve Living Environments in Bonghwang-myeon, Naju… Leading 'ESG Management' by Returning 10% of Annual Profits to Society
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Jeonnam Development Corporation is setting an example of regional co-prosperity by generously donating a large amount of project funds again this year to build a comprehensive welfare safety net for Jeonnam residents and improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups.
The Jeonnam Development Corporation announced on the morning of the 27th at the reception room of the Jeonnam Provincial Office that it had donated 500 million won in project funds to the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea for the 'Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force' project, aimed at resolving living inconveniences for vulnerable groups and supporting crisis households within the province. Key officials attended the handover ceremony on this day, including Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Young-rok, Jeonnam Development Corporation President Jang Chung-mo, Jeonnam Community Chest Secretary General Kim Dong-geuk, and Jeonnam Association of the Physically Disabled President Kim Jong-tae. The event proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere, beginning with a tea gathering, followed by the donation presentation ceremony and a commemorative photo session.
The Corporation's support for the "Our Neighborhood Welfare Mobile Team" began in 2021 and marks its fourth year this year. Including the 500 million won delivered this time, the cumulative support invested in the Welfare Mobile Team project alone amounts to a total of 1.8 billion won.
The donated funds will be fully utilized to establish welfare services directly related to the daily lives of residents through the Our Neighborhood Welfare Mobile Teams, which operate throughout the 22 cities and counties of Jeollanam-do. These services include identifying crisis households in welfare blind spots, repairing aging homes and replacing appliances for the vulnerable, and urgently handling daily inconveniences. The Corporation is not limiting itself to mere financial support but is also engaging in practical volunteer activities where employees go directly to the field. On April 24, the Corporation conducted a joint volunteer activity with the Welfare Mobile Unit to improve the living environments of vulnerable households in the Bonghwang-myeon area of Naju-si.
Approximately 40 personnel from both the public and private sectors participated in the event, including 16 members of the Jeonnam Development Corporation’s ‘Eusseuk (ESG) Volunteer Corps,’ as well as representatives from the Jeonnam Provincial Regional Welfare Team, Naju City’s Welfare and Environment Bureau, Bonghwang-myeon’s Customized Welfare Team, Naju Fire Station, and the Naju Welfare Mobile Unit. They embarked on a large-scale environmental cleanup.
The volunteers visited two households of basic livelihood recipients and people with disabilities to collect large items of trash and waste that had been left neglected inside and outside the homes for a long time, and carried out a thorough cleaning. Furthermore, to ensure the practical convenience of the target households, they donated home appliances and daily necessities such as electric rice cookers, blankets, and fans. In addition, they collaborated with the fire station to conduct preventive activities, including fire safety inspections, contributing to the creation of safe living spaces.
Jeonnam Development Corporation is fulfilling its social responsibilities as a local public enterprise under the principle of returning 10% of its annual net profit to the local community.
The Corporation has taken on the role of a steadfast supporter for major local issues, such as donating 500 million won in ticket purchases on April 8 to ensure the successful hosting of the '2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.' With the cumulative amount donated by the Corporation to the local community totaling approximately 20 billion won to date, it has established itself as a key partner in promoting welfare in the Jeonnam region.
Jang Chung-mo, President of Jeonnam Development Corporation, emphasized, "The 'Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force' is a representative tangible welfare model in Jeonnam that addresses the residents' specific needs," adding, "We will continue to listen to voices from the field and continuously expand social contribution activities that create real change close to the lives of our citizens."
