이번 교육은 시군역량강화사업의 일환으로 추진됐다. 읍·면 지역 및 배후마을 공동체 조직과 연계해 활용할 수 있는 전문 인력을 기르고, 주민들이 주도하는 건강관리 프로그램의 운영 기반을 구축하기 위해 기획됐다.
교육은 지난 7월 1일부터 9일까지 총 4회에 걸쳐 옥천공동체허브 '누구나'에서 진행됐다. 키네시오 테이핑의 개요와 기본 원리를 비롯해 주요 신체 부위별 스포츠테이핑 실습, 통증 관리 및 회복 촉진을 위한 테이핑 기법 등 이론과 실습을 밀도 있게 병행해 교육의 실효성을 높였다.
이번 과정에서는 총 33명의 교육생이 출석률 75% 이상의 수료 기준을 충족해 최종 수료했다. 이들은 소정의 자격검정을 거쳐 대한기능재활운동협회에서 발급하는 스포츠테이핑지도사 2급 민간자격을 취득할 수 있는 요건을 갖추게 된다.
이렇게 양성된 전문 수료생들은 향후 옥천군 농촌활력지원센터가 운영하는 문화배달부 등 지역 인적자원 활용사업과 연계되어 활동한다. 이들은 각 마을 주민들을 대상으로 한 건강관리 프로그램을 직접 운영하고 다양한 공동체 활동을 지원하는 전문 인력으로 현장에 투입될 예정이다.
