이번 사업 대상은 총 1,355필지, 59만 6,446㎡ 규모다. 보은군은 실제 이용 현황과 지적공부의 기재 사항이 일치하지 않던 지적불부합지를 새롭게 조사 및 측량하고, 일제강점기에 작성됐던 기존 종이 지적도를 디지털 지적으로 정밀하게 전환했다.
지적재조사는 정확한 측량 결과를 확보하기 어렵거나 경계 불일치로 발생하는 토지 소유자 간 분쟁을 해소하고 토지의 효율적 관리를 도모하기 위해 실시되는 국책 사업이다. 보은군은 이번 사업을 통해 토지 경계를 명확히 확정짓고, 경계선에 걸쳐 있던 건물의 경계를 현실에 맞게 조정했다. 또한 불규칙한 모양의 토지를 정형화하고 지적도상 도로가 없던 맹지를 해소해 토지의 이용 가치를 크게 높였다.

보은군 민원과장은 인터뷰를 통해 "토지소유자들의 적극적인 협조와 양보 덕분에 단 한 건의 큰 마찰 없이 사업을 원만하게 완료할 수 있었다"며 "현재 추진 중인 보은읍 교사·장안지구와 회인면 고석지구 지적재조사사업 역시 차질 없이 성공적으로 마무리할 수 있도록 주민들의 꾸준한 관심과 협조를 부탁드린다"고 전했다.
한편 보은군은 지적재조사 완료에 따라 면적이 변동된 토지에 대해 감정평가를 진행한 뒤, 오는 10월부터 토지소유자별로 조정금을 지급하거나 징수하는 정산 절차를 이행할 계획이다.
