[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 밀양시가 영남권 친환경농산물 유통 거점 구축을 위한 국비 확보에 본격 나섰다.
안병구 밀양시장은 24일 정부세종청사를 방문해 농림축산식품부 관계자와 면담을 갖고 ‘영남권 친환경농산물 종합물류센터 조성사업’의 필요성을 설명하며 정부 차원의 지원을 요청했다.
시는 친환경농업 확대와 안정적인 유통체계 구축을 위해 생산·집하·선별·저장·배송 기능을 통합한 종합물류센터 조성이 필요하다는 입장이다.
특히 영남권은 전국 주요 친환경농산물 생산지이면서 대규모 소비시장과 인접해 있어 물류 거점 구축에 유리한 여건을 갖추고 있으며, 밀양은 교통망과 물류 인프라를 기반으로 사업 추진의 최적지라고 강조했다.
종합물류센터가 조성되면 친환경 농산물 유통 과정의 효율성이 높아지고 물류비 절감 효과와 함께 생산 농가의 소득 증대, 친환경농업 활성화에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.
밀양시는 앞으로도 정부와 경상남도, 관계기관과 협의를 이어가며 사업 확정과 국비 확보에 행정력을 집중할 방침이다.
안병구 시장은 “영남권 친환경농산물 종합물류센터는 지역 농업 경쟁력 강화와 친환경 농산물 유통 혁신을 이끌 핵심 기반시설”이라며 “사업 유치를 위해 적극 대응하겠다”고 밝혔다.
