[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 남해군은 지난해 개관한 ‘6.25·월남전 흔적전시관’이 국가보훈부 현충시설 심의를 거쳐 국가 현충시설로 신규 지정됐다고 12일 밝혔다.
남해군은 지난해 12월 국가보훈부에 현충시설 지정을 신청했으며, 약 4개월간의 심의를 거쳐 최종 지정 결정을 받았다. 이에 따라 전시관은 국가보훈부 관리 체계에 포함돼 체계적인 보존·관리와 함께 교육·홍보 자원으로 활용된다.
전시관은 남해군이 2021년부터 추진한 ‘6.25전쟁·월남전 참전유공자 흔적남기기 사업’을 기반으로 조성됐다. 군은 참전유공자와 유가족을 대상으로 구술 채록과 유품 수집을 진행해 일기, 편지, 사진첩 등 4056점의 자료를 확보했다.
총사업비 28억 원이 투입된 전시관은 2025년 12월 개관했으며, 올해 4월 말 기준 누적 관람객은 18만3561명으로 집계됐다.
장충남 남해군수는 “전시관이 호국보훈 정신을 계승하는 대표 공간으로 자리매김할 수 있도록 운영에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편 남해군 내 국가 지정 현충시설은 이번 지정으로 모두 8곳으로 늘었다.

Namhae County announced on the 12th that the ‘Korean War & Vietnam War Traces Exhibition Hall,’ which opened last year, has been newly designated as a National Memorial Site following a review by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
Namhae County applied for the designation to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs last December and received the final designation decision after approximately four months of deliberation. The exhibition hall, built with a total project cost of 2.8 billion won, opened in December 2025, and as of the end of April this year, the cumulative number of visitors was recorded at 183,561.
