브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 문화축제 기획·연출 전문가 김종원 감독이 제19회 마포나루 새우젓 축제 총감독으로 위촉됐다.
마포구는 지난 7월 24일 구청 정책회의실에서 위촉식을 열고 김 감독을 총감독으로 선임했다고 밝혔다. 김 감독은 오는 10월 열리는 축제의 세부 기획과 연출을 맡는다.
유동균 마포구청장은 위촉식에서 주민 참여를 확대하고 세대 간 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 축제의 변화와 혁신을 당부했다.
김 감독은 이번 축제에서 새우를 활용한 체험형 콘텐츠와 어린이 참여 프로그램을 강화하고, 다양한 세대가 함께 참여할 수 있는 주민 참여형 프로그램을 구성할 계획이다.
김 감독은 마포나루 새우젓 축제의 기틀이 마련된 2013년과 2018년 축제의 연출을 맡은 경험이 있다. 이에 따라 축제의 특성과 운영 방향에 대한 이해도가 높다는 평가를 받고 있다.
김 감독은 전국 지방자치단체의 지역축제를 기획·연출해왔다. 주요 연출 축제로는 귀주대첩 1000주년 기념 강감찬 축제, 시흥 갯골축제, 노량진 도심 속 바다축제, 함양 산삼축제, 남해 보물섬 마늘축제 등이 있다.
그는 2011년 대한민국 문화예술 조직위원회 연출대상과 제13회 대한민국 문화예술대상 지방자치단체 축제 기획연출부문 대상 등을 수상했다. 현재 사단법인 한국축제문화진흥협회 이사장을 맡아 지방자치단체 축제 컨설팅과 관계자 교육 등을 진행하고 있다.
올해 제19회 마포나루 새우젓 축제는 내년 제20회 축제를 앞두고 축제의 브랜드와 콘텐츠를 재정비하는 데 초점을 맞출 예정이다.
