Gwangju Nam-gu to Hold Briefing on ‘High School Credit System and College Entrance Reform’ for Prospective High School Freshmen and Parents

Held at the District Office on the 18th… Presenting Strategies for the High School Credit System and Changes to the 2028 College Entrance Examination - Career and College Counselor Im Hak-jun Invited… Approximately 100 Attendees Expected via Online and Offline Registration

(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = Nam-gu, Jeonnam Gwangju Metropolitan City, is holding a customized college entrance briefing for 3rd-year middle school students and their parents in the district who are preparing to enter high school next year.

According to Nam-gu, the briefing, designed to assist prospective high school students with successful high school admission and career planning, will be held on the 18th at 2:00 PM in the large conference room on the 8th floor of the District Office.

This briefing was organized to provide accurate information regarding the ‘High School Credit System,’ which has been fully implemented since 2025, and the ‘changes in the college entrance examination system for the 2028 academic year’ to be held in the future. The purpose is to present practical response strategies that enable students to establish systematic academic and career plans even before entering high school.

In particular, with the full implementation of the High School Credit System, the ability for students to independently select subjects aligned with their career paths and design their academic schedules has become crucial. Therefore, in-depth analysis and guidelines regarding the changed educational environment are scheduled to be provided.

Lim Hak-jun, a career and college admissions counselor affiliated with the Jeonnam-Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, will serve as the lecturer for the information session. Teacher Lim will deliver a detailed 100-minute lecture on the topic of "High School Selection and Preparation for Changed College Admissions," and plans to address attendees' long-standing questions through a Q&A session following the lecture.

An official from Nam-gu stated, "Since the High School Credit System and the reform of the college admissions system have a profound impact on students' career planning, it is paramount to prepare ahead of others based on accurate information." The official added, "We hope this information session will serve as a stepping stone for students to fully understand the changing educational environment and formulate college admission strategies that are perfectly suited to them." Meanwhile, approximately 100 prospective high school students and parents who have pre-registered via the Nam-gu Culture and Education Events app and Naver Form are expected to attend this admissions information session. To share educational information with more residents, Nam-gu will also accept additional on-site registrations on the day of the session for those who were unable to pre-register.
