KOSBC announced on the 22nd that it had signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Scale-up of the Gyeongbuk Robot Industry Value Chain" at Gyeongbuk Technopark.

Participating in this agreement were the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), along with leading local companies such as Samkwang Co., Ltd., Ajin Industry Co., Ltd., SL Co., Ltd., Hanjoong NCS Co., Ltd., and Hwashin Co., Ltd.

The participating institutions and companies agreed to cooperate to advance the upstream and downstream value chains of the Gyeongbuk robot industry and to join forces to promote the digital and robotic transformation of small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises (SMEs). Specifically, key areas of cooperation include the demonstration and commercialization of specialized robot technologies, joint R&D and support for the smartification of manufacturing sites, and the identification of policy and on-site challenges. In addition, they plan to actively work to increase productivity in the parts and materials manufacturing industry through robot-based manufacturing innovation, as well as to create local jobs and expand added value.

Going forward, each institution intends to jointly plan and operate scale-up programs based on the ‘5-Point 3-Special’ framework, and also pursue the establishment of demonstration platforms and pilot projects linked with anchor companies.

An official from the Korea Small Business & Startup Agency stated, “We will actively support the creation of a robot industry ecosystem and the expansion of on-site application by small and medium-sized enterprises to strengthen the competitiveness of Gyeongbuk’s manufacturing sector.”
