[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도 특별사법경찰이 폐기물 불법 처리 행위 근절을 위해 오는 20일부터 6월 30일까지 6주간 기획수사에 나선다.
경남도 특사경은 무허가 폐기물 처리업체 난립과 폐기물 무단 방치, 불법투기 등으로 인한 환경오염과 도민 피해를 사전에 차단하기 위해 시·군과 합동 단속을 실시한다고 19일 밝혔다.
중점 수사 대상은 무허가 폐기물 처리업자가 낮은 처리단가를 앞세워 폐기물을 수탁한 뒤 공장이나 나대지 등에 방치하거나 불법 투기·비정상 재활용하는 행위다.
특사경은 이 같은 불법 처리 과정에서 침출수와 악취, 화재 위험 등 2차 환경 피해가 발생하고, 처리 비용이 토지주나 지방자치단체에 전가되는 사례가 이어지고 있다고 설명했다.
이번 수사에서는 허가를 받은 폐기물 처리업체 가운데서도 사업장 내외에 폐기물을 무단 적치하거나 처리 능력을 초과해 방치하는 행위, 불법 소각·무단투기 여부 등을 함께 점검한다.
도 특사경은 위반 사업장에 대해 수사 후 검찰 송치를 원칙으로 하고, 위반 사실 은폐나 조직적 범행 정황이 확인될 경우 압수수색 등 강제수사도 병행할 계획이다.
