[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도가 국내 최초로 100MW급 방위산업 전용 인공지능(AI) 데이터센터(AIDC)를 유치했다. 총 투자 규모는 1조6,555억 원으로, 방산 분야 AI 연구개발과 제조업 인공지능 전환(AX)의 핵심 기반이 될 전망이다.
경남도는 27일 도청 도정회의실에서 ㈜디노티시아, ㈜디노코어, 신화철강㈜, 창원시와 방산 전용 AI 데이터센터 건립을 위한 투자협약(MOU)을 체결했다.
데이터센터는 창원시 의창구 팔용동 일원에 연면적 7만4,606㎡ 규모로 조성된다. 수전용량 100MW급 데이터센터와 지원시설이 들어서며, 방산기업의 AI 연구개발과 데이터 활용을 위한 보안 기반 인프라를 갖출 예정이다.
참여 기업들은 AI 스토리지와 클라우드, AI 반도체 기술을 연계해 방산기업의 안전한 데이터 활용과 AI 전환을 지원하고, 신화철강은 개발사업과 운영 기반 조성에 참여한다.
경남도는 이번 사업으로 데이터센터 운영인력과 AI 개발자, 사이버보안 전문가 등 ICT 분야에서 약 200명의 신규 일자리가 창출될 것으로 기대하고 있다. 또 방산뿐 아니라 조선·기계·항공 등 주력 제조업의 AI 전환도 촉진한다는 계획이다.
박완수 경남도지사는 "방산 경쟁력은 AI 기술뿐 아니라 안전한 데이터와 보안 인프라 확보에 달려 있다"며 "경남이 방산 AI와 첨단 제조혁신의 중심지로 도약할 수 있도록 사업 추진을 적극 지원하겠다"고 말했다.

On the 27th, Gyeongnam Province signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of the defense-dedicated AI data center with Dinotisia Co., Ltd., Dinocore Co., Ltd., Shinwha Steel Co., Ltd., and Changwon City at the Provincial Government Conference Room.
The data center will be constructed in the Palyong-dong area of Uichang-gu, Changwon City, with a total floor area of 74,606 square meters. A 100MW-class data center and support facilities will be established, providing a secure infrastructure for AI R&D and data utilization by defense companies.
