[Break News Gyeonggi South = Suwon, Reporter Lee Hyun-jun] Gyeonggi Province is accepting additional applications by city and county for a portion of the unallocated budget for a project that supports elevator replacement and fire safety facility reinforcement costs to improve the living environment of older apartments and prevent safety accidents.

Through this year's residential environment improvement and safety facility support projects, Gyeonggi Province is supporting elevator replacement and repairs to common facilities in 118 aging multi-unit housing complexes, while providing support for fire safety facility reinforcement—such as the relocation of electric vehicle charging facilities and the installation of fire detection CCTVs—in 115 complexes.

Currently, Gwangmyeong City is conducting additional recruitment for elevator repairs and safety facilities, Siheung City for safety facilities, and Namyangju City for elevator repairs. In particular, for the fire safety facility reinforcement project, which includes the replacement of aging fire detectors, additional applications are open to all 31 cities and counties in the province for the remaining budget of 30 million won.

Since details regarding the selection method and scale of the support project vary by region, apartment complexes wishing to receive support should contact the relevant department in charge of multi-unit housing in their respective city or county. Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen safety management systems, such as preventing electric vehicle fires, through this project, and provide support to ensure residents can live in a pleasant environment.

Gyeonggi Province plans to continue doing its utmost to improve the safety management and quality of life in aging multi-unit housing. This support is expected to provide substantial assistance in securing the safety of residents and reducing the management burden of older apartments.
