SK Hynix
SK hynix is approaching a US$1 trillion market valuation as surging demand for artificial intelligence hardware continues to drive massive gains across South Korea’s semiconductor industry. The rally comes only weeks after Samsung Electronics became the country’s first trillion-dollar company.
SK hynix shares have climbed more than 200% this year following a 274% surge in 2025, fueled by strong global demand for memory chips and high-bandwidth memory products used in AI servers. The company has emerged as a key supplier within the rapidly expanding AI supply chain, alongside Samsung and Taiwan-based TSMC.
The rapid growth has transformed South Korea into one of the world’s strongest equity markets. The benchmark KOSPI index has risen more than 86% this year after posting a 75% gain in 2025, making it the best-performing major stock market globally since the start of last year.
Analysts say investor enthusiasm surrounding artificial intelligence has fueled aggressive buying across Asian technology stocks, particularly in Japan and South Korea. Foreign investors have poured capital into Korean chipmakers as expectations for sustained AI infrastructure spending continue to strengthen.
