According to reporter Han Sang-hyung of the Korea Instructor Newspaper, the film “Lamb” was released on December 29, 2021, and is directed by Valdimar Jóhannsson. The cast includes Noomi Rapace, Hilmir Snær Guðnason, and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson. It is a 106-minute thriller with an audience rating of 7.10 and a total of 15,000 viewers. Recently, it has been featured as a recommended film on Netflix.
The film portrays an unpredictable A24 horror story about a couple, Maria and Ingvar, who receive a mysterious child born on their sheep farm after a snowstorm on Christmas night.
In a remote mountainous region of Iceland, where harsh winds rage and the noise of the world is shut out, Maria and Ingvar live on a secluded sheep farm, trapped in the shadow of an unhealed loss. Consumed by grief, Maria and the silent Ingvar struggle to maintain balance in their lives through hard labor and repetitive routines.
However, as their shared loneliness slowly brings them closer and warmth begins to return to their relationship, an inexplicable and bizarre event shakes their lives. A new happiness seeps into their once-dark household like an unexpected miracle—almost like a secret gift from fate.
But the peace does not last long. The arrival of Ingvar’s enigmatic brother, Pétur, begins to crack their fragile sanctuary. As an uneasy atmosphere spreads across the farm, this seemingly natural blessing gradually starts to demand a price.
As if enchanted by something, Maria and Ingvar become deeply captivated by one another. Under the name of love, how far will they go? This story, where blessing and curse intertwine, ultimately leads them to an unavoidable moment of choice—what will their fate be?
