보성군은 지난 24일 호반장학재단(이사장 김상열)이 장학기금 3,000만 원을 (재)보성군장학재단(이사장 문찬오)에 기탁했다고 밝혔다. 이번 기탁금은 보성 지역의 학업 우수자와 꿈을 키워가는 인재들을 위한 다양한 장학 사업에 투입될 예정이다.
호반장학재단은 1999년 김상열 이사장이 사재를 출연해 설립한 이후, 지역 간 교육 격차 해소를 위해 전국적인 장학 사업을 펼쳐왔다. 특히 지난해에 이어 올해도 보성군에 장학금을 전달하며 2년 연속 든든한 후원자 역할을 자처하고 있다.
