Korea National University of Transportation Holds Meeting of AI Mobility Industry-Industry-Research Council… Accelerating Establishment of Future Mobility Ecosystem

Korea National University of Transportation has set out to significantly strengthen its industry-industry-research cooperation framework to enhance competitiveness in the AI and mobility sectors—key to Chungbuk’s future strategic industries—and to revitalize the local industrial ecosystem.

The university held the "1st Meeting of the 2nd Year of the AI Mobility Joint Research Center Industry-Industry-Research Council" at the Global Lecture Hall of the International Youth Cooperation Center on the Chungju Campus. This council was established to promote technological development in the fields of autonomous vehicles, mobility component technology, infrastructure, and services, and to build a foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation among the university, local governments, innovation institutions, and industries.

The event began with an opening address by Lee Hyung-wook, Director of the AI Mobility Joint Research Center, followed by a certificate presentation ceremony for committee members and a report on the center's operational direction for the second year. Attendees reviewed the status of achievement of performance indicators while exchanging practical advice and opinions to revitalize industry-industry-research cooperation.

In October, it plans to host a Talk Concert on campus featuring experts from the Korean Academy of Automotive Engineers. Along with this, specific cooperation measures across various fields, including joint research, corporate support, and the dissemination of results, were discussed in depth.

The AI Mobility Joint Research Center intends to generate field-tailored results by continuously promoting technology exchange meetings, forums, and seminars, as well as by carrying out industry-academia joint technology development projects, producing prototypes, supporting companies with technical challenges, and utilizing shared equipment. Through these initiatives, the center envisions solidifying a virtuous cycle leading from "talent development - technology creation - corporate cooperation - results dissemination" and fostering a sustainable regional innovation ecosystem. Meanwhile, this project involves broad participation from major local universities, including Korea National University of Transportation, Chungbuk National University, Cheongju University, Jungwon University, Semyeong University, and Uwon University, as well as local governments, related organizations, and industries such as Chungju City, Chungbuk Technopark, the Chungbuk Automobile Industry Association, and the Automotive Parts Industry Cluster.
