Integrity & Thinking for the Whole’
Customer Focus & Impact-Driven Goals’
Data-Driven & High Standards‘
①
Integrity
–
②
Customer Focus
–
③
Data-Driven
–

[Culture Slogan Visit] MiridiH – A Company That Revises Code Like Text
Launched in 2019 under the slogan 'Make It Visual,' miricanvas (MiriCanvas) has established itself as Korea's largest design platform, boasting 22 million registered users, 500,000 templates, and 190 million cumulative designs. It currently provides services in 9 languages across 180 countries globally. Its user base spans a wide range, from creators such as instructors, influencers, marketers, and YouTubers to schools and corporate settings. By partnering with 17 metropolitan and provincial education offices nationwide to support miricanvas, it has established itself as a standard tool in the educational field, and the number of corporate clients has exceeded approximately 2,800.
BizHows, an online design printing commerce platform targeting small business owners and self-employed individuals, has surpassed 2 million cumulative subscribers, and allows users to immediately order physical printed materials such as business cards, flyers, posters, banners, and packaging based on designs created on miricanvas.
The user base built by the two platforms has directly translated into performance, with MiridiH recording 94.2 billion won in revenue last year, setting a new record for the sixth consecutive year. With a plan to make this year a year of proving its potential in the global market, the company is investing heavily in talent acquisition, strengthening global product competitiveness by combining AI technology, and localized marketing.
I met with MiridiH CTO Kim HeeKyu to discuss how MiridiH operates, focusing particularly on the developer organization.
MiridiH Kim HeeKyu CTO
Enables
everyone
to easily communicate with the world through design
Design has long been regarded as the domain of experts, making it a field that is difficult for non-experts to approach. In particular, small business owners and SMEs have faced the challenge of solving design problems within limited resources. MiridiH targets a broad range of non-experts—including self-employed individuals, small business owners, SMEs, marketers, instructors, and students—who need design but lack the capacity to handle it themselves. As a tool used by non-experts, it must be "easy." Miricanvas enables template-based editing using only a web browser, and recently, by integrating AI features, it has reduced work time through chatbot recommendations and automatic generation.
MiridiH’s perspective is that design is a means, not an end. MiridiH has made design a tool that reaches the real world. Its mission is to "enable communication with the world" through the designs created in this way. Ultimately, this means that design is a medium of communication. The fact that a well-made business card, a poster, or a presentation can help someone's business and message reach the world—that is the reason for MiridiH's existence.
Revise code like writing
MiridiH has a well-established code review culture. Code review refers to the process where fellow developers review code written by a developer and provide feedback. It is a core collaboration activity performed by almost every team in software development.
The primary reason for code reviews is to catch bugs in advance. It also allows us to align readability, style consistency, and maintainability with team standards while maintaining code quality above a certain level. It serves as a platform for sharing knowledge as well. Above all, it instills the mindset that it is "our code" rather than "my code." CTO Kim likened this process of code review to writing.
Writing improves when others provide different perspectives. The same goes for code. Code review is a form of collaborative revision.
That is why code reviews are important. However, most people tend to do them merely as a formality. MiridiH's code review process is akin to a rigorous proofreading process. They spend hours seriously reviewing and discussing the code. CTO Kim believes that only through such reviews can one learn new things and grow.
“There are some big tech companies that lack a code review system. I am a developer with 10 years of experience, but I often see my growth stagnating. It is unfortunate.”
Of course, every company operates Pull Requests (PRs). This is because, in the Git system, a merge cannot be completed without someone's approval. The key is how properly it is done. When such differences accumulate, the growth curve of a junior employee changes completely. At MiridiH, junior employees and interns often get involved in actual product development.
Interns are assigned features just like full-time employees to develop code themselves, and they undergo reviews just as well to be reflected in the product. By the time their internship ends, they get to see the code they wrote applied to an actual product.
Core Values
MiridiH's core values are divided into basic principles, goal principles, and execution principles.
Fundamental Principle: 'Integrity & Thinking for the Whole'
Goal Principle: 'Customer Focus & Impact-Driven Goals'
Execution Principle: 'Data-Driven & High Standards'
①
Integrity
–
Consistency between words and actions
Integrity, as defined by MiridiH, is the consistency of words, actions, and thoughts.
For example, in a debate, you should not blindly oppose the other person's opinion or insist on your own just because your view is not accepted. It is an attitude of integrity to state the genuine reason for your opposition. If you oppose something because it is a hassle or because you feel your opinion is being ignored, and that opinion passes, that is not integrity.
I have given another example.
“What should you say if you are late for work? It is integrity to be honest and say, ‘I drank yesterday and can’t get up.’ MiridiH operates a vacation system that allows you to take time off whenever you want. So, there is no need to lie; you simply need to say, ‘I want to rest.’ It is sufficient to take precautions in advance so that work is not disrupted even if you are not working. There is no reason to lie. That is why MiridiH has no penalty system. We leave everything to the autonomy of our employees.”
②
Customer Focus
–
The standard for all decision-making is the customer
MiridiH operates as a 'squad' organization that unites PMs, designers, backend and frontend developers, AI researchers, and marketers toward a single goal. It is a structure where members from different roles execute the same objective. The core of the team's decision-making and KPIs is customer satisfaction, retention, and usage frequency. When deciding whether to add new features, modify existing screens, or where to allocate more time, the criterion remains the same: what does this change leave behind for the customer? Let's take a brief look at the meeting room.
We must develop this feature.
“What benefits will it bring to the customer if we change that?”
"well"
The reason we work is not for the individual or the organization, but solely for the customer. Arguments in discussions about "who is right" are meaningless. It is not about who argued the louder, but which choice better solves the customer's problem. After all, the answer lies with the customer.
③
Data-Driven
–
Not what works, but what you do well
When deciding which features to develop, there is only one answer: 'data.' Metrics serve as the sole criterion for decision-making. When a new idea emerges, we first quickly build an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to verify it through A/B testing, and only formally develop features where meaningful changes in metrics have been confirmed. We formulate hypotheses, build small to test, and confirm with data. Therefore, there is rarely any heated debate regarding the project plan. Once released to the market, the outcome is determined by customer reaction.
MiridiH demands 'high standards.' This means you must create code that works, not just code that works.
You shouldn't say, "I think it will work if you do that." Because what matters is not making it work, but how well you make it work.
This standard also applies to hiring interviews. Rather than a resume filled merely with a list of things you have done—in other words, the depth of that experience is important.
“There are many people who know how to do certain things. What matters is how deeply you delved into the problem and how well you solved it. For example, if you answer, ‘I didn’t have such a problem,’ I ask back, ‘So, you didn’t even think about it?’ If you didn’t give it that thought, your growth has stopped.”
What matters is not 'what was created,' but 'what choice was made and why that choice was the best.' This means that even if the environment did not present you with difficult problems, there must be at least traces of you imagining and delving into them on your own. That trace is the trajectory of growth, and it is the point that MiridiH measures with 'high standards.'
Let
's
make it
work
Growth indicators are not merely plotted on revenue graphs. It is the sum of the depth with which each individual solves problems that ultimately drives the company's growth. While MiridiH has been breaking record performance for six consecutive years, serious code reviews, honest discussions, and decision-making answered by numbers have quietly accumulated. It is not the result of flashy declarations or eye-catching events, but the outcome of time spent adhering to the same principles through small, daily choices.
MiridiH's ultimate goal is to make "Micanhaja" the standard. It took decades for "PPT-hada" to establish itself as a common noun. It took countless meeting rooms, lecture halls, and presentation venues to accumulate for PowerPoint to transcend a simple file extension and become a term referring to the very way of working. It will likely take more time for "Micanhaja" to become the standard. However, given that we deal with design—the most universal language—and that 22 million users already use it every day, it seems likely to be achieved in the near future. Someday, it may become a phrase spoken not only in Korea but around the world. The time MiridiH has quietly built is gradually bringing that day closer.
Integrity & Thinking for the Whole'
Customer Focus & Impact-Driven Goals'
Data-Driven & High Standards'
①
Integrity
–
②
Customer Focus
–
③
Data-Driven
–
