이번 협약은 대학이 보유한 원천 기술을 이전·사업화하고, 대학 기술지주회사와 기술 기반 창업기업에 대한 금융 및 투자 지원을 대폭 늘려 지역 혁신성장을 도모하고자 마련됐다. 교육부의 산학협력 정책과 IBK기업은행의 금융·투자 인프라, 거점국립대의 연구개발 역량을 하나로 묶는 구심점이 마련된 셈이다.
