음성군은 2026년 1월부터 6월까지 진행된 후보지 재공모에 관내 2개 마을이 신청했으나, 응모 자격 검토 결과 맹동면 통동2리가 지원 조건을 충족하지 못해 후보지에서 제외됐다고 밝혔다.
