[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 하동군은 오는 15일부터 25일까지 북천면 직전마을 들판 일원에서 ‘제12회 하동 북천 꽃양귀비 축제’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 축제에서는 축구장 21개 규모의 들판에 꽃양귀비를 비롯해 수레국화, 유채꽃, 금영화, 안개꽃 등 1억 송이 이상의 꽃이 조성돼 봄 정취를 선보인다.
축제장에는 희귀박 터널과 이색꽃밭, 잔디공원 등 다양한 테마 공간이 마련되며, 관람객들이 꽃밭 사이를 걸으며 휴식과 체험을 즐길 수 있도록 구성됐다.
올해는 철쭉분재 작품전이 새롭게 운영돼 꽃양귀비와 함께 한국적인 정원미를 감상할 수 있다. 또 ‘댕댕이에게 희망을’ 프로그램을 통해 유기견 분양센터도 운영한다.
이와 함께 양귀비를 활용한 패션타투 체험과 꽃물들이기 체험 등 참여형 프로그램도 진행된다.
축제 기간 북천 레일바이크와 하동나림생태공원 등 인근 관광자원과 연계한 관광 프로그램도 함께 운영돼 가족 단위 관광객들의 발길이 이어질 것으로 기대된다.
하동군 관계자는 “올해 축제는 꽃 감상을 넘어 문화와 생명 존중의 가치를 함께 담은 복합 문화형 축제로 준비했다”며 “하동 북천에서 봄의 정취와 특별한 추억을 만끽하길 바란다”고 말했다.
