Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Operates ‘Dream-As-You-Go Mobile Counseling’ for High School Seniors in Eup and Myeon Areas
Visiting 22 Schools Including Gangjin High School… Bridging the Information Gap Including 3 Schools in Island Areas- Providing 1:1 Customized College Admission Strategies… ‘Mobile Mock Interviews’ Scheduled for the Second Half of the Year
(Muan = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Career and College Admission Counseling Center of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education is launching a direct, customized admission support program for students in the province’s Eup and Myeon areas who face geographical disadvantages.
The Provincial Office of Education’s Career and College Admission Counseling Center announced that it will operate the ‘Dream-As-You-Go Mobile Counseling’ program for third-year students at general high schools in Eup and Myeon areas until July 20.
This program will be conducted for a total of 194 students across 22 schools, including Gangjin High School. In particular, three island schools (18 students)—including Nohwa High School, Docho High School, and Wando Geumil High School, which typically have limited access to college admissions information—have been included in the program. This is expected to be of great help in alleviating the gap in college admissions information between regions.
The "Dream-As-You-Do Mobile Counseling" program operates by having professional college admissions officers visit applicant schools in person to conduct in-depth one-on-one counseling with students for 40 minutes.
Key topics covered in the counseling include: ▲ analysis of early and regular admissions characteristics by major universities to prepare for the upcoming college entrance exams; ▲ interpretation of past admissions data; and ▲ establishment of application strategies for each admission track linked to individual student grades and career aspirations.
Especially given the increased changes and variables in the admissions environment ahead of the upcoming college admissions reform, the plan is to provide intensive guidance on practical and accurate admissions information and customized response strategies to prevent students from experiencing confusion.
The Provincial Office of Education plans to continue beyond this mobile counseling program and launch the "Dream-As-You-Do Mobile Mock Interview" program in the second half of the year. This initiative aims to help students from rural areas develop practical response skills, as the weight and importance of university-specific interview evaluations in college admissions have been steadily increasing recently. The program for the second half of the year plans to alleviate students' interview anxiety by simulating various situations they might encounter in actual interviews.
