이로써 전남은 기상 이변과 고령화로 위기에 처한 전통 농업을 AI와 로봇 중심의 미래형 첨단 산업으로 탈바꿈하는 독보적인 전기를 맞이하게 됐다.
이번 사업은 단순히 비닐하우스에 ICT 기술을 접목하던 기존 2세대 스마트팜을 넘어, AI가 스스로 판단하고 로봇이 실행하는 ‘지능형 영농 솔루션(AX)’ 구축을 골자로 한다.
전남도는 무안군 및 민간 컨소시엄과 협력해 국비 439억 원을 포함, 총 2,546억 원이라는 대규모 재원을 투입한다. 사업의 핵심 무대는 무안군 해제면 일원으로, 향후 5년간 이곳에 대한민국 농업의 심장부 역할을 할 AI 전진기지가 조성될 예정이다.
사업의 실행력을 높이기 위해 국내 최고의 기술력을 보유한 민간 기업들이 뭉쳤다. 전남도는 민·관 합작 특수목적법인(SPC)을 설립해 전문성을 극대화한다는 전략이다.
