개선되는 표기 방식에 따르면 세대주의 배우자는 기존과 동일하게 ‘배우자’로 명시된다. 반면 배우자를 제외한 자녀나 부모 등 민법상 가족은 구체적인 직계 관계 대신 ‘세대원’으로 통일되어 표기되며, 그 외의 인원은 ‘동거인’으로 표시된다.
