Yeongdong County, North Chungcheong Province, is recruiting participants for the 2026 Returnee to Rural Life Experience Event to help urban residents settle stably in the countryside and breathe new vitality into the local community.

Yeongdong County is investing 20 million won in county funds to operate a short-term stay program targeting prospective returnees to rural areas and urban residents wishing to experience rural life. Participants will stay in the Yeongdong County area to engage in on-site agricultural practice and local cultural experiences, and will have the opportunity to experience practical rural life in advance through meetings with experienced farmers.

Applications are open until August 10 via Yeongdong County's official channels, and the event is scheduled to run for a three-day, two-night stay from August 28 to 30. Through this project, Yeongdong County plans to encourage an influx of urban residents and reduce trial and error during the initial settlement phase, thereby creating a sustainable rural ecosystem. Kim Dae-young, Chairman of the Yeongdong County Association of Returning Farmers and Rural Settlers, who will be welcoming participants on-site, emphasized that this will be a great opportunity for urban residents who vaguely dream of returning to farming or rural life to experience the realities of rural life in advance, receive settlement know-how from seniors, and successfully settle in Yeongdong County.

Furthermore, an official from Yeongdong County stated that they will strengthen administrative support to ensure this experience leads to a substantial influx of urban residents and regional revitalization, and will do their utmost to make Yeongdong a desirable place to live by actively promoting the region's excellent living conditions and natural environment.
