[Break News Gyeonggi South = Reporter Lee Hyun-jun, Yeoju] On the 13th, Yeoju City conducted the second training session of the Regional Strategic Crop Eco-friendly Growth Improvement Project for 18 farmers cultivating Malva, a regional strategic crop.

This training focused on strengthening soil management capabilities for the high-quality cultivation and stable production of Malva. The main content consisted of practical techniques immediately applicable in the field, such as how to utilize fertilizer prescriptions, appropriate fertilization techniques, nutrient management at different growth stages, and measures to prevent over-fertilization.

Following the training, the city provided soil moisturizers to farmers to prevent soil drying during high-temperature periods, thereby supporting the improvement of the growing environment. The city has been continuing its phased support for improving the Malva cultivation environment, including transferring salt accumulation soil management techniques and providing citric acid and biochar through the first training session held last March.

This training is expected to serve as an opportunity to fundamentally improve the soil environment and prevent over-fertilization, a chronic problem for farmers, through data-driven fertilizer prescriptions. In particular, by distributing soil moisturizers in parallel at a time when damage from high temperatures caused by climate change is anticipated, it is expected to enhance the practical crisis response capabilities of agricultural sites.
