Yangsan City Expands Life Cycle Population Education to Improve Awareness of Low Birth Rate and Aging
Operating Customized On-Site Education at Schools and Public Institutions to Strengthen Citizens' Capacity to Respond to Population Crisis
Yangsan City is promoting "On-Site Population Education by Life Cycle" to raise citizens' awareness of demographic changes, such as low birth rates and an aging population.
The city announced that, in collaboration with the Gyeongnam Branch of the Korea Population, Health and Welfare Association, it will conduct a total of four training sessions from May to September for applicant institutions, including schools and public agencies.
The training is conducted by professional instructors visiting institutions in person to provide customized programs tailored to each life stage, ranging from children to adults.
This year's training demonstrated high interest, with registration closing early as more institutions applied than originally planned. Education was held at Gayang Elementary School in May and Ungsang Elementary School in June; sessions are scheduled to continue for Yangsan City Hall officials in July and students at Pyeongsan Elementary School in September. The educational content is designed to enhance understanding of social changes, such as population decline and aging, and to encourage reflection on the meaning and value of marriage, childbirth, and family.
Yangsan City expects that this training will help improve citizens' capacity to respond to population issues and contribute to laying the foundation for sustainable growth in the local community.
A city official stated, "Population issues are a challenge that the local community must address together," adding, "We will continue to expand various educational programs to help citizens better understand population changes."
