[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 산청군이 여름철 폭염에 따른 농업인 건강 피해를 줄이기 위해 온열질환 예방요원 운영에 나섰다.
산청군은 5일 농업기술센터에서 ‘농업인 온열질환 예방요원 발대식’을 열고 본격적인 폭염 대응 활동에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.
예방요원은 농업인 안전실천 역량강화 지원사업 교육 이수자를 중심으로 산청군생활개선회 임원과 읍·면 임원들로 구성됐다. 이들은 여름철 농작업 현장을 직접 찾아 농업인들의 온열질환 예방 활동을 지원하게 된다.
예방요원들은 오는 9월까지 마을과 농경지 등을 방문해 온열질환 취약계층인 고령농업인 1200명을 대상으로 건강관리 요령과 폭염 대응 수칙을 안내하고 안전 의식을 높이는 현장 홍보활동을 펼칠 예정이다.
산청군은 최근 폭염 일수가 증가하면서 고령 농업인의 온열질환 위험도 커지고 있는 만큼 예방 중심의 현장 활동을 강화해 농업인 안전사고를 최소화한다는 방침이다.
조희주 산청군생활개선회장은 “회원들과 함께 농업인들이 폭염 속에서도 안전하게 영농활동을 할 수 있도록 예방활동과 홍보에 적극 나서겠다”며 “현장 중심의 안전관리로 온열질환 예방에 힘을 보태겠다”고 말했다.
한편 산청군생활개선회는 농촌 여성 역량 강화와 농촌 발전을 위한 학습·봉사단체로, 현재 지역 내 12개 회 303명의 회원이 활동하고 있다.
