Steps to Protect Green Forests and the Preciousness of Life... The Gyeonggi Region of the Korea Forest Love Association Conducts Forest Fire Prevention and Environmental Cleanup Activities at Mt. Yumyeong in Gapyeong
The Gyeonggi Region of the Korea Forest Love Association has embarked on practical initiatives to reaffirm the value of forests and raise awareness of the importance of nature conservation in the era of climate crisis.
The Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters of the Korea Forest Love Association announced that it recently held a "Forest Fire Prevention Campaign and Environmental Cleanup Activity" in the area of Mt. Yumyeong in Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do.
Approximately 45 people participated in this activity, including key executives such as Gyeonggi Regional President Kim Pil-rye, Forest Protection Association President Jeong Hyeong-bae, Women's Association President Kim Mi-kyung, Goyang City Small Business Association Presidents Kwak Hyun-woong, Kwak Kuk-jin, and Kim Yong-rak, and Goyang City Branch President Yoo Jae-cheol, as well as members and volunteers.
Participants conducted a forest fire prevention campaign targeting hikers visiting Mt. Yumyeong, urging them to exercise special caution regarding the possession and handling of fire sources while hiking and raising awareness about forest fires. Following this, they contributed to creating a pleasant forest environment by collecting various types of trash and agricultural byproducts left abandoned along the hiking trails.
In particular, despite the event taking place in inclement weather with heavy rain, the participants stayed until the end, working up a sweat on the environmental cleanup.
President Kim Pil-rye also personally oversaw the site, encouraging the participants and emphasizing the importance of forest protection.
President Kim stated, "Passing on our precious natural environment and lush forests intact to future generations is a weighty mission for our generation." She added, "We will do our utmost to cultivate healthy forests and spread awareness of nature conservation throughout the local community through continuous forest fire prevention campaigns and environmental cleanup efforts."
The Gyeonggi region of the Korea Forest Love Federation has been carrying out forest fire prevention campaigns and environmental conservation activities regularly every month, rather than limiting these efforts to a one-time event. Amidst rising wildfire risks due to climate change and growing importance of protecting forest ecosystems, private organizations are being recognized for taking the lead in raising environmental awareness within local communities by directly carrying out prevention and cleanup activities on-site.
The Gyeonggi region of the Korea Forest Conservation Association plans to continue promoting wildfire prevention and forest environment cleanup activities to protect valuable forest resources, while expanding its role as a representative environmental conservation organization in the local community that encourages citizens' voluntary participation in environmental protection.
