Gunpo Cultural Foundation to Operate ‘2026 Gunpo Hot Place’ Performances Starting May 16

“Weekend outdoor performances unfolding under the sunset at Banwol Lake… Come to Banwol Lake on Saturdays”

The Gunpo Cultural Foundation announced that it will operate the ‘2026 Gunpo Hot Place’ performances, a program designed for citizens to enjoy culture, starting on May 16.

The first half of the year’s performances will take place every Saturday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the outdoor stage in Banwol Lake Park, Gunpo City, from May 16 to June 20. In particular, the outdoor performances are expected to offer citizens a unique cultural and artistic experience, harmonizing with the scenery of Banwol Lake as the sun sets.

‘Gunpo Hot Place’ is a performance program designed to provide stage opportunities for young performing artists and to allow citizens to naturally encounter culture and art in their daily lives. It has garnered a positive response from citizens by showcasing performances of various genres—including creative Korean traditional music, classical music, popular music, and dance—against the backdrop of Banwol Lake Park. This year's performances will feature a diverse array of stages presented by 30 professional performing arts groups and artists selected through an open call, including Gukak Inga (Korean traditional music), Dick Family (folk), Lumiere (classical), Kim Sun-young Jazz Tap (tap dance), and Ernest Music (jazz).

Jeon Hyeong-ju, CEO of the Gunpo Cultural Foundation, stated, "We organized this performance so that citizens visiting Banwol Lake, a representative landmark of Gunpo, on weekend afternoons can enjoy high-quality cultural performances alongside the beautiful natural scenery." He added, "As we have prepared performances of various genres this year, we hope for the public's great interest and participation."
