Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency and KEPCO KPS to Provide 30 Million Won to Crime-Affected Families… Join Hands for ‘Three Major Safety Projects’

Customized support in three areas: residential safety, care, and education… to be implemented for five months starting in August - Support includes installation of security facilities, full reimbursement of childcare co-payments, and guarantee of the right to non-face-to-face learning.

(Break News Jeonnam Gwangju) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency and KEPCO KPS are joining forces to help families affected by crime recover their daily lives quickly and prevent recurrence.

The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced that on the 28th, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KEPCO KPS for the ‘Safety Support Project for Crime-Affected Families’ at the Mudeung Hall on the 5th floor of its headquarters and held a fund transfer ceremony worth 30 million won.

This agreement, promoted as part of the ‘Making Jeonnam and Gwangju Safer from Crime’ project, will run for five months from this coming August to December. The structure involves providing customized benefits to families at risk of crime victimization identified by the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, based on social contribution funds supported by KEPCO KPS.

Through this project, both organizations will intensively implement the "Three Major Safety Tasks" tailored to the specific circumstances of crime-victimized families.

First, under the "Housing Safety" task, a safe living environment is created for families at high risk of retaliation or re-victimization by installing customized security facilities, such as intelligent CCTVs, digital door locks, high-performance window locks, and security bars.

Second, under the "Care Safety" task, 100% of the co-payments incurred when using government childcare services and integrated care services are subsidized to prevent care gaps for minor children that occur while guardians attend investigative agencies, trials, or psychological counseling.

Third, the "Academic Safety" task guarantees the right to non-face-to-face learning for minor children at risk of dropping out due to restricted outings caused by trauma treatment or fear of retaliation, by providing access to online lectures, study room passes, textbooks, and certification acquisition costs. Under the agreement, the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency will oversee the identification of families at risk due to crime and the operation of an integrated support system, while KEPCO KPS will provide financial support and cooperate in activities to raise awareness within the local community, such as producing and distributing promotional videos for the support projects. Both organizations agreed to share implementation results and establish a sustainable cooperative framework.

Kim Hong-yeon, President of KEPCO KPS, stated, "It is meaningful to participate in the three major safety support projects—housing, care, and education—for families at risk in the local community." He added, "As a member of the local community and a public enterprise standing with the people, we will continue to consider various ways for mutual growth, work closely with local residents, and do our utmost to spread a culture of sharing."
