V-SPACE (CEO Bumdong Loukas Cho), a company specializing in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) system integration, participated in ‘MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2026’ held in Barcelona, Spain, for four days from March 2 (Mon) to 5 (Thu, local time).

V-SPACE is an AAM specialist company that has developed electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft powered by electric propulsion systems, including cargo air vehicles (CAV) and personal air vehicles (PAV). In particular, the company holds the record for the first successful AAM aircraft flight demonstration in the domestic industry. It is recognized for unrivaled technological reliability, having accumulated over 1,080 flight hours to date.

The company also continues to take leading steps toward certifications essential for commercial aircraft. Currently, V-SPACE is establishing a certification system that meets global standards in cooperation with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). The company explains that it is securing insights to compete directly with leading overseas companies in the global market.

AT MWC 2026, V-SPACE introduced three types of independently developed aircraft that demonstrate specialized utility—VS-100 (CAV), VS-220 (PAV), and VS-500—along with the technology for flight control units (FC) and high-safety lightweight battery systems, which are the core of these aircraft.

The ‘VS-100,’ which can load cargo weighing up to 105kg, is a cargo aircraft optimized for delivery to island areas and transportation in mountainous terrain. It is considered an ideal aircraft for the ‘Hub-to-Hub’ logistics model due to its payload and flight performance that exceed those of existing small drones.

The ‘VS-220,’ a one- to two-seater aircraft developed for the U.S. market, features a lightweight battery system and a design that maintains safe flight even during engine failure. In particular, the commercial value of this aircraft is highly valued, as it complies with the Part 103 regulations (14 CFR Part 103) of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Part 103 is a local regulation that grants exemptions from pilot licenses or standard aircraft registration procedures for single-seat ultralight flight devices that secure a certain level of safety. The VS-220, which falls under this category, is expected to enable rapid commercialization and market settlement by significantly reducing administrative burdens in operations and management.

The pure electric propulsion aircraft ‘VS-500’ is currently accelerating the certification process through discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia. This was also designated as the backbone of V-SPACE’s strategy to target the next-generation aircraft market, with a focus on North America.

With such a wide AAM technology pipeline, V-SPACE achieved consecutive substantial business results at MWC 2026. The company signed a sales contract with a local company to pioneer the European mountain-delivery market with the VS-100. It reached an agreement to finalize a supply contract for the VS-220 this month through meetings with two companies in the South American region. Furthermore, it significantly expanded the scope of global collaboration by partnering with a famous British supercar manufacturer to develop a next-generation PAV that inherits the heritage of premium cars, and by securing support for aircraft manufacturing funds.

Based on these achievements, V-SPACE will enter local production of the VS-220 in the U.S. within the year in cooperation with a U.S. partner and promote the commercialization of PAVs for tourism centered on resorts such as Cancun, Mexico. Additionally, it plans to promote the VS-100 launch in Malaysia before the VS-500’s certification.

V-SPACE CEO Bumdong Loukas Cho explained, “I am pleased to achieve the result of discovering partners in strategic strongholds such as Europe and South America through MWC. We plan to leap forward as a leader in the global AAM market by materializing commercialization models based on actual sales, moving away from existing methods that relied on massive investment attraction.”

CEO Cho added, “Specifically, we will generate revenue early by leading with cargo and single-seat aircraft for which demand is certain, and use the flight data and capital secured through this to enter the three-to-four-seater air taxi market in the future.”

MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2026, hosted by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association), is held at the Fira Gran Via exhibition center in Barcelona, Spain, under the theme ‘The IQ Era’. This year’s event is the largest ever, with approximately 2,900 companies from 205 countries and more than 100,000 visitors participating. Major exhibition fields encompass the entire ICT industry, including AI infrastructure, 5G Advanced, and 6G preliminary technology, mobility, and fintech. Additionally, more than 200 conference sessions involving global leaders run in parallel during the exhibition period.
