Negotiations restart May 4 under government mediation

The Samsung Biologics Coexistence Branch of the Samsung Group’s multi-company labor union will resume negotiations with management on May 4, through the mediation of the Jungbu Regional Employment and Labor Office. It was reported that Park Jae-seong, chairman of the branch, will attend for the union, while management will be represented by working-level officials at the managing director level and group leaders at the department head level.
The union stated, “In today’s meeting, we will confirm how management perceives the current situation and whether they have a genuine will to resolve it.” It added, “We cannot persuade our union members with mere verbal promises, answers that they will review it, or talks with those who lack authority. If management genuinely wants to resolve this situation, they must respond with a responsible revised proposal and a documented promise of implementation.”
Meanwhile, the union began a full-scale strike on May 1, with approximately 2,800 of its 4,000 members participating. Previously, the union and management held 13 rounds of negotiations from December 2025 to this past March but failed to narrow their differences.
