Matica Biolabs signs stem cell media CMO deal with Jeongjin Bioscience

Matica Biolabs, a subsidiary of CHA Biotech, has entered into a contract manufacturing agreement (CMO) with Jeongjin Bioscience to produce mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned media.

Under the agreement, Matica Biolabs will manufacture and supply high-quality stem cell-conditioned media to Jeongjin Bioscience. The conditioned media contains a range of bioactive substances secreted during stem cell culture, including growth factors, antioxidants and various cytokines. Jeongjin Bioscience plans to use the supplied materials to develop medical devices for skin regeneration.

In a separate move, Matica Biolabs also signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding with Humic, a contract research organization (CRO) specializing in non-clinical and clinical services.

Through the partnership, the two companies aim to establish a mid- to long-term collaboration and develop end-to-end services spanning the entire biopharmaceutical development lifecycle by integrating CDMO capabilities with CRO services.

The collaboration will explore opportunities across multiple areas, including information exchange on pharmaceuticals, production of non-clinical samples, process development through efficacy and toxicity evaluations, and regulatory support for drug approvals.

Matica Biolabs said both the CMO agreement and the MOU were finalized during BIO KOREA 2026, held at COEX in Seoul from last Tuesday to Thursday. The company said it plans to continue participating in domestic and international pharmaceutical and biotech exhibitions to expand business networking and increase contract opportunities.

Min Byung-jo, CEO of Matica Biolabs, said, “Building on more than 20 years of biopharmaceutical R&D and manufacturing experience accumulated by the CHA Bio Group, we will continue to expand our support in production and quality to help our clients’ technologies reach the market.”

Matica Biolabs is a CDMO company specializing in cell and gene therapies (CGT). It was established in 2018 following a spin-off from CHA Biolab, formerly part of CHA Biotech. CHA Biotech has built a global CGT CDMO network across the United States, Japan and Korea, and is implementing a specialized CDMO brand strategy under the name “Matica Bio.” While Matica Biolabs leads domestic operations, global and North American business is handled by Matica Biotechnology.
