Kolmar Korea again drew attention on the global stage at the world’s largest cosmetics trade show, leading with proprietary technological capabilities that fuse pharmaceutical technology. Following its receipt of the highest innovation award in the beauty tech category at “CES 2026” in January this year, the company has now delivered another consecutive achievement by being named a finalist in the innovation technology category at “Cosmoprof Bologna 2026.”
On 1, Kolmar Korea announced that it had been selected as a finalist in the innovation technology category at the Cosmopack Awards of “Cosmoprof Bologna 2026,” held in Bologna, Italy, from March 26 to 28. After winning the grand prize in two categories—innovation technology and sustainability—at the same awards ceremony last year, Kolmar Korea once again made the finalist list for a second consecutive year, reaffirming its technological competitiveness.
Launched in 1967, Cosmoprof is a global beauty industry exhibition where manufacturers, brand owners, and raw material companies, among others, participate to showcase the latest products and technologies. In particular, the Bologna event is considered one of the world’s top three beauty industry exhibitions, along with those in Las Vegas and Hong Kong. The Cosmopack Awards are an event in which a panel of judges comprising global cosmetics companies and beauty experts selects the most innovative products and technologies. In the innovation technology category this year, only four entries advanced to the final shortlist out of approximately 750 submissions.
The technology selected as a finalist this time is Kolmar Korea’s proprietary nano-delivery technology, “CHRONO-dot™.” CHRONO-dot is a next-generation skin delivery system designed around the time at which cosmetics act on the skin; when applied once, it implements a structure in which active ingredients are released rapidly during the first three hours and then delivered gradually thereafter. Through this, active ingredients are continuously delivered to the skin for up to 72 hours, extending the duration for which efficacy is maintained.
Kolmar Korea applied “microfluidics” technology, used for drug delivery, to cosmetics R&D. Microfluidics is a technology that precisely controls liquids within microscopic channels thinner than a strand of hair, and it is used to manufacture pharmaceuticals uniformly and stably. By combining this with cosmetics nano-emulsion technology, Kolmar Korea enabled even poorly water-soluble ingredients to be realized as uniform, nano-sized particles. As a result, the company explained that skin delivery performance improved by 4.26 times compared with existing nano-liposome technology.
In particular, because cosmetic formulations mix various ingredients together, such as salts and surfactants, active ingredients are easily damaged; CHRONO-dot was designed to protect them stably through a protective-layer design inspired by pharmaceutical technology. Kolmar Korea stably encapsulated resveratrol, a poorly soluble ingredient, enabling release for up to 72 hours, and plans to apply the technology to skincare products such as ampoules and move to secure customers starting in the second half of the year.
At this exhibition, Kolmar Korea’s total beauty capabilities were also highlighted. In its experience zone, the company presented a full lineup across all categories—skincare, makeup, suncare, and haircare—along with 84 shades of cushion foundation tailored to the diverse skin tones of the European market. In addition, the “Scar Beauty Device,” which won the highest innovation award at “CES 2026,” and the AI-based scalp diagnosis solution “CAIOME” also drew interest from buyers in major European countries.
Its subsidiary Yonwoo also received a positive response from global beauty industry stakeholders by showcasing eco-friendly packaging technologies that use refillable containers and recycled materials. The assessment was that, on site, the group’s capabilities were demonstrated at a level encompassing not only product competitiveness but also sustainability and technological convergence.
