Hyundai Motor teams up with KAI for advanced air mobility development
SEOUL, May 10 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Group said Sunday it has signed an agreement with aerospace manufacturer Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to jointly develop advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft.
The signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding (MOU) was held in Seoul on Friday and attended by Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chair Chang Jae-hoon and KAI CEO Kim Jong-chool, according to the carmaker.
Under the MOU, the two companies agreed to jointly develop and mass-produce competitive AAM aircraft by combining Hyundai's expertise in electrified aviation powertrains with KAI's aircraft development technologies, Hyundai said.
The two sides also agreed to cooperate in commercializing electrified aviation powertrains currently being developed by Hyundai Motor and Kia, while working together in such broader areas as resource sharing, supply chains and certification.
"We will expand the horizons of mobility by introducing safe and attractive advanced air mobility solutions," Hyundai said in a release.
