Hyundai Glovis said Wednesday it has introduced the world’s largest pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), capable of transporting more than 10,000 vehicles in a single voyage.
The company said the new vessel, named “Glovis Leader,” can carry up to 10,800 small vehicles and will be deployed for finished vehicle shipments. The ship measures 230 meters in length and 40 meters in width, with a gross tonnage of 102,590 tons and cargo space equivalent to 28 soccer fields.
Hyundai Glovis is the first global operator to introduce a PCTC with a capacity exceeding 10,000 vehicles.
The Glovis Leader is equipped with a liquefied natural gas dual-fuel engine and an alternative maritime power system, enabling it to meet tightening global environmental regulations, including the European Union’s carbon emissions trading scheme.
The company plans to expand its PCTC fleet to 128 vessels by 2030, with the goal of transporting 5 million finished vehicles annually.
