South Korea’s Emart is accelerating its global expansion by launching dedicated No Brand stores in Mongolia, aiming to strengthen its presence in the local retail market with the private-label products that have already gained popularity through its existing operations there.
Emart said Thursday that it plans to open three new No Brand specialty stores in Mongolia this year. The company aims to expand the network to 15 stores by 2028 and eventually to 50 locations within the next decade.
The retailer also plans to establish a dedicated local logistics cluster to support the expansion.
Emart entered the Mongolian market in 2016 and currently operates six stores in the country. The company said its stores have become major retail channels locally, attracting an average of about 30,000 visitors per day on weekends.
No Brand products have shown particularly strong performance in Mongolia. About 800 No Brand items are currently sold there, with annual sales surpassing 10 billion won ($6.9 million) last year.
