Data to Energy (CEO Sangmin Han), an energy and climate-tech innovation startup, is challenging for the Energy Innovation Award category at ‘The Smarter E Award’ presented by Europe’s largest energy industry exhibition, ‘The Smarter E Europe 2026.’
Data to Energy is a company specializing in distributed energy solutions that maximize the efficiency and reliability of solar power generation by combining power conversion technology with AI (artificial intelligence). In particular, the company stands out in developing intelligent energy devices that diagnose equipment status by collecting and analyzing real-time data from power generation sites.
Furthermore, Data to Energy simultaneously possesses single-stage power control technology that realizes hardware miniaturization and extended lifespan, as well as anomaly diagnosis technology based on Edge AI. According to the company, it helps reduce operational risks and maximize the efficiency of solar power facility maintenance by integrating these technologies to develop solutions for various purposes, including residential and commercial use.
In this award challenge, Data to Energy plans to promote its renewable energy infrastructure technology to the global market, led by its high-efficiency single-stage microinverter. The company aims to leap forward as a platform company innovating distributed energy infrastructure after proving its global competitiveness and gaining recognition through this event.
The flagship microinverter features maximized efficiency by simplifying the system structure. Accordingly, it effectively resolves the output degradation caused by partial shading—a weakness of existing large inverters—resulting in an actual increase in field power generation.
The Edge AI technology embedded in the device itself analyzes signs of anomalies, such as equipment degradation, poor connections, and noise, in real-time at the site. By responding immediately to abnormal states through instantaneous computation that does not go through the cloud, it significantly lowers operational risks by continuously predicting and optimizing operating status.
In addition, these technologies are being developed with a structure that can link with infrastructure such as AC combiners, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Energy Storage Systems (ESS) in the future. Accordingly, flexible introduction and expansion across various power generation infrastructures are possible, and the technology demonstrates clear strengths in lifespan and maintenance convenience, which are essential requirements for energy equipment.
This proves its value as an intelligent distributed energy infrastructure node demanded by the energy transition era, and the industry highly evaluates Data to Energy’s chances of winning. This is because Europe is the region with the most advanced distributed energy and smart grid policies in the world, and the microinverter model—which combines high hardware efficiency with AI-based intelligent diagnosis technology—aligns closely with the technical requirements and environmental values of the local market.
Data to Energy plans to use its Smarter E Award honor as a stepping stone to a full-scale overseas Proof of Concept (PoC) and to expand local collaboration centered on Europe. In line with the carbon-neutral policies of European markets such as Germany, the company intends to verify power generation efficiency and anomaly-detection accuracy in real-world operating environments. By promoting partnerships with local EPCs and energy solution companies, it plans to pursue large-scale export projects by establishing integrated energy solution packages that combine microinverters, AI operating platforms, AC combiners, and ESS.
Data to Energy CEO Sangmin Han emphasized, “If the innovation of our technology is officially recognized on a stage where renewable energy experts from around the world gather, we can make our name known as a game changer in the global distributed energy market, including Europe.” He added, “Based on the unrivaled technological prowess and data-driven operational know-how we have accumulated on domestic and international stages, we expect to achieve good results at this award as well.”
The Smarter E Europe 2026, opening in Munich, Germany, on June 23 (Tue, local time), is the world’s largest exhibition, with global companies leading the renewable energy industry participating in large numbers. The Smarter E Award, presented here, strictly evaluates and selects winners based on five core indicators—Impact, Uniqueness, Social Benefit, Economic Benefit, and Innovation—in addition to the product’s technology and performance, and boasts the highest level of authority in the industry.
