CJ Cheiljedang signs MOU with Vietnam retailer to expand market presence
SEOUL, April 27 (Yonhap) -- CJ Cheiljedang Corp. said Monday it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vietnamese supermarket chain Bach Hoa Xanh to strengthen their business partnership and expand its presence in Southeast Asia.
Under the MOU signed last week, the South Korean food company will broaden the supply of Korean food products, including processed items, through Bach Hoa Xanh's retail network, the company said in a press release.
The partnership aims to diversify CJ Cheiljedang's product portfolio in Vietnam beyond its current focus on frozen and chilled foods to include shelf-stable products and processed meat offerings, it said.
The company currently supplies a range of Korean food products to the Vietnamese retailer, including Bibigo dumplings, kimchi -- a traditional fermented cabbage dish —- and dried seaweed, known as "gim" in Korean.
CJ Cheiljedang said its Vietnam operations have recorded average annual sales growth of around 40 percent over the past four years.
