Relocation of the Manneken-Pis costume collection in Brussels
The original 1919 bronze Manneken-Pis is on display during relocation preparations of the Manneken-Pis costume collection, in Brussels, Belgium, 18 May 2026. In 1965, it was stolen from its pedestal, leaving only the bronze feet and ankles behind. Six months later, the upper body of the broken statue was submerged in the Brussels-Charleroi canal. To this day, the break above the ankles where the statue was repaired can be seen. About 1,200 outfits neatly packed in boxes will be transferred from the depots of the Museum of the City of Brussels 'Broodhuis' to the depots of the Fashion & Lace Museum. EPA/OLIVIER MATTHYS
