“AI Must Become an Export Industry”… Emphasizing the Global Market
In his opening remarks, KOSA President
Cho Jun-hee
emphasized the need to secure global competitiveness for the domestic AI industry. President Cho stated, "There are not many AI companies that actually generate stable profits," adding, "AI must grow into an export industry, not one that remains confined to the domestic market." He further added, "We must build a full-stack AI ecosystem to advance into the global market," and "create a virtuous cycle structure similar to a Korean-style PayPal Mafia."
At the event, recent global cooperation activities were also shared, including the launch of the K-AI Partnership, the MOU with the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea-Indonesia Business Forum, and the visit of the Swedish AI delegation to the association.
Lee
Jung-soo, CEO of Flitto, who spoke earlier, introduced the company's AI language data and the current status of its real-time interpretation and translation business.
Flitto has recently been continuing to expand its AI-based real-time interpretation and translation solutions and data business, and demand in the field of international events and conferences is growing, centered on the Japanese market. The company is also pursuing entry into the multimodal data market for physical AI, going beyond its language data business.
Seoul National University Professor Choi In-chul, Lecture on the Psychological Resilience and 'Good Life' of AI and SW Leaders
Next, Professor
Choi In-cheol
delivered a lecture, which was the main session of the event. Under the theme of "The Good Life of AI and SW Leaders," Professor Choi addressed the perfectionist tendencies of modern society and the stress issues faced by leaders.
Professor Choi said, “There are more people living with the mindset of ‘Never Enough,’” adding that “an atmosphere of accepting perfectionist tendencies as a strength has taken root throughout society.”
He then explained the structure of human stress by citing the book *Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers?* by Stanford University biologist Robert Sapolsky.

"Professor Choi said, 'Zebras run away when they encounter a lion and return to a calm state once the situation is over, but humans continue to recall and ruminate on past stress,' adding, 'Because of our ability to think, humans are often exposed to invisible stress for extended periods.'"
Professor Choi emphasized that leaders should not become solely engrossed in a performance-oriented life.
He said, “There are many cases where only business and results remain, and the self of existence itself disappears,” adding, “It is necessary to distinguish between the performance self and the existence self.”
In addition, mentioning the so-called '3G's'—GRACE, GOOD LUCK, and GRATITUDE—he emphasized the importance of a life attitude of finding small joys and the significance of relationships.
Professor Choi stated, “It is important to have someone you can comfortably talk to when something happens,” adding that “psychological stability can be gained through relationships rather than competition.” He further explained that exercise, too, goes beyond simple physical activity and is a crucial element for stress management and mental health.
Meanwhile, the KOSA Run & Grow Forum is a regular event organized to allow leaders in the AI and software industries to share current industry issues and trends, and to expand networking and business cooperation among member companies. The next forum is scheduled to be held on July 22, featuring Professor
Cho Sung-joon
as a guest speaker, under the theme of "Creating Business Value Through AI."
