(Break News Gwangju·Jeonnam) Reporter Lee Hak-su = On the 31st, the last weekend before the main voting of the June 3 local elections, Min Hyung-bae, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate for the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special Mayor, concentrated all efforts on winning votes in the Yeongam region, receiving full support from the ‘Ottuk Campaign Team,’ composed of party leaders.
After successfully concluding a campaign tour in the southwestern region connecting Wando, Muan, and Mokpo the previous day, Candidate Min visited Yeongam intensively on this day to rally votes in the final stretch. At the campaign rally, a large number of key figures joined forces, including Representative Park Ju-min, head of the Ottuk Campaign Team; Representatives Shin Jeong-hoon, Seo Sam-seok, Jeong Jun-ho, and Kim Yun; Campaign Committee Spokesperson Jeon Su-mi; and Yeongam County Governor candidate Woo Seung-hee. They appealed for overwhelming support for the leap forward of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City and the development of Yeongam.
Candidate Min Hyeong-bae took the podium and first addressed the historical obligations associated with the launch of the Integrated Special City, emphasizing the necessity of a "Democratic Party One Team Victory." Candidate Min appealed, "Thanks to President Lee Jae-myung's determination and support, Jeonnam-Gwangju has ended its history of marginalization and sorrow that it has endured for the past 80 years and has embraced an opportunity for a new leap forward." He added, "We need the strong support of the citizens of the city and province to join forces closely with the Lee Jae-myung administration to bring overwhelming growth to Jeonnam-Gwangju."
In particular, regarding customized development pledges for the Yeongam region, he garnered a strong positive response from local residents by stating, “Yeongam possesses abundant renewable energy infrastructure, water resources, and vast land, making it an ideal location for an RE100 (100% sustainable renewable energy) industrial complex.” He added, “If the government promotes an RE100 industrial complex in the Jeonnam-Gwangju region, I will consider Yeongam as the top priority site.”
Representative Park Ju-min, who leads the "Ottuk Campaign Team," emphasized, “A new opportunity has opened for local governments to work in perfect step with the central government.” He urged voters to “choose the Democratic Party candidates, as this election is the most important and final chance to overcome the crisis of regional decline and achieve balanced development for the Republic of Korea.” Representative Shin Jeong-hun also stated, “President Lee Jae-myung has a vision to draw a new future for this southwestern region, particularly Yeongam, centering on RE100 industrial complexes and the energy industry to revitalize Jeonnam, which is facing a crisis of population extinction,” and repeatedly urged, “Please elect the right person who will work in perfect harmony with President Lee Jae-myung to take responsibility for Yeongam’s new leap forward.”
Meanwhile, Candidate Min is continuing his bold moves toward balanced regional development and inter-regional cooperation.
This afternoon, Candidate Min will travel to Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, to meet with candidates for heads of metropolitan and provincial governments affiliated with the Democratic Party of Korea. At this meeting, Candidate Min is scheduled to officially announce the "Joint Declaration on Mutual Cooperation between North Jeolla, South Jeolla, Gwangju, and Jeju."
