프랑스는 대체로 지저분하고 홈리스가 많다는 인상이 강해,

특히 파리 같은 곳은 오래전부터 방문 대상에서 제외해 왔다.

낭만과 에펠탑의 상징성은 이제 옛말이 되었고,

관광객들이 처음 방문해 사진만 찍고 가는 도시라는 느낌이 강하다.

관리 상태도 기대에 미치지 못해 방문할 때마다 기분이 상했던 기억이 있다.

언제부턴가 로마나 파리 같은 유명 관광 도시는 찾지 않고,

비교적 조용하고 한적한 곳을 선호하게 되었다.

이번 방문 역시 낭트 법원 일정이 있어 겸사겸사 들르게 된 경우였다.

낭트 공항에는 에어컨이 없고, 더블린처럼 대부분의 호텔에도 에어컨이 설치되어 있지 않다.

이는 원래 기후가 비교적 서늘했다는 의미겠지만,

이번 방문 기간에는 기온이 41도까지 올라 선풍기만으로 버티기에는 상당히 힘든 며칠이었다.

직항 노선은 라이언에어뿐이어서

패스트트랙, 우선 탑승, 맨 앞자리 좌석까지 모두 추가 구매하며 적지 않은 비용을 지불했다.

그러나 결국 1시간 지연 출발을 겪었고,

에어컨도 없는 공항에서 더위에 시달린 기억은 오래도록 남을 것 같다.

낭트 시내는 전체적으로 매우 깨끗한 편이며,

약 70만 명이 거주하는 도시답게 하루나 이틀 만에 모두 둘러보기에는 규모가 상당하다.

기후는 겨울에는 춥고 여름에는 더운 전형적인 유럽형 기후에 가깝다.

유럽이라고 해서 모든 나라가 이상적인 것은 아니다.

아직도 상대적으로 낙후된 동유럽 일부 지역과 비교하면,

프랑스는 안정적인 국가에 속하지만,

난민과 흑인 인구 비중이 높은 도시 중 하나라는 점도 체감할 수 있었다.

개인적으로는 프랑스보다 북이탈리아 지역에 더 높은 점수를 주고 싶다.

내가 중요하게 생각하는 기준은 물가, 경제적 안정성, 그리고 시민의식 수준인데,

그런 관점에서 보면 낭트는 날씨를 제외하고는 비교적 높은 평가를 받을 만한 도시였다.

다시 방문할 것이냐고 묻는다면, 솔직히 그럴 가능성은 높지 않을 것 같다.

France has long left me with the impression of being somewhat untidy

and having a visible homeless population.

Paris, in particular, is a city I decided years ago I no longer needed to visit.

The romantic image and the Eiffel Tower appeal feel like things of the past.

To me, it has become little more than a first-time tourist photo destination,

and poor maintenance often left me disappointed.

At some point, I stopped visiting overly famous destinations such as

Rome and Paris, and began seeking out quieter places instead.

This trip was primarily for a visit to the Nantes courthouse,

So I took the opportunity to explore the city as well.

Nantes Airport has no air conditioning, and like Dublin,

many hotels in the area do not have air conditioning either.

This is probably because the region traditionally enjoys a relatively mild climate.

However, during my visit, temperatures reached 41°C,

and surviving with only a fan was quite uncomfortable.

The only direct flight available was with Ryanair.

I paid extra for fast track, priority boarding, and a front-row seat,

which made the trip fairly expensive.

Despite that, the flight was delayed by an hour,

leaving passengers stuck in a non-air-conditioned airport.

That experience is one I will remember for a long time.

The city center of Nantes is remarkably clean overall.

With a metropolitan population of around 700,000,

it is large enough that seeing everything in just a day or two would be difficult.

Its climate is fairly typical for Europe, with cold winters and warm summers.

Not every country in Europe is ideal, and while France is certainly more stable than

some of the less developed parts of Eastern Europe,

Nantes is also a city with a significant immigrant and multicultural population.

Personally, if I were comparing it with Northern Italy,

I would give Northern Italy the higher score.

The factors I value most are affordability,

economic stability, and the overall level of civic behavior.

By those standards, Nantes scores quite well, except for the weather.

Would I visit again? Probably not.

フランスは全体的に雑然としており、

ホームレスも多いという印象が強い。

特にパリについては、かなり前から「もう行かなくていい」と

決めている都市の一つだ。

かつてのロマンチックなイメージやエッフェル塔の魅力も今では薄れ、

初めて訪れた観光客が写真を撮るために立ち寄る場所という印象が強い。

管理状態にも不満を感じることが多く、訪れるたびに気分を害した記憶がある。

いつの頃からか、ローマやパリのような定番観光都市を避け、

より静かな場所を訪れるようになった。

今回の訪問もナントの裁判所を訪れる予定があったため、そのついでに街を見て回った。

ナント空港にはエアコンがなく、

ダブリンと同様に多くのホテルにもエアコンが設置されていない。

本来は比較的涼しい気候であったことの表れだろう。

しかし今回の滞在中は気温が41度まで上がり、

扇風機だけで過ごすのはかなり厳しかった。

直行便はライアンエアしかなく、ファストトラック、

優先搭乗、最前列座席などを追加したため、

かなりの費用がかかった。それにもかかわらず1時間の遅延が発生し、

エアコンのない空港で長時間待たされた経験は、しばらく忘れられそうにない。

ナント市内は全体的に非常に清潔で、

人口約70万人規模の都市だけあって、1〜2日ですべてを見て回るのは難しい。

気候は冬が寒く、夏が暑い典型的なヨーロッパ型である。

ヨーロッパのすべての国が理想的というわけではなく、

フランスは東欧の一部地域と比べれば安定しているものの、

移民を含む多様なバックグラウンドを持つ住民が多い都市でもある。

個人的には、北イタリアと比較するなら北イタリアの方を高く評価したい。

私が重視するのは物価、経済的な安定性、

そして市民のマナーや意識の水準である。

その観点から見ると、ナントは天候を除けば比較的高く評価できる都市だった。

また訪れるかと聞かれれば、おそらくその可能性は低いと思う。
