[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 함안군과 함안군산림조합은 지역 사유림의 건강한 생태환경 조성과 지속 가능한 산림자원 육성을 위한 조림사업을 성공적으로 마무리했다고 24일 밝혔다.
함안군은 효율적인 산림관리를 위해 2025년부터 산림사업 관리 업무를 함안군산림조합에 위탁해 운영하고 있다.
이번 성과는 함안군의 행정력과 산림조합의 전문적인 기술력이 결합된 결과로, 지역 산주들에게 더욱 체계적이고 수준 높은 산림 서비스를 제공하고 있음을 보여준다.
이번 조림사업은 함안군 일원 총 108ha 규모로 추진됐다. 특히 소나무재선충병 피해가 심한 58ha 부지에는 벌목 작업을 한 뒤 건강한 산림으로 회복하기 위한 수종 전환 방제사업을 함께 추진했다.
피해목을 제거하고 지역 환경에 적합한 수종을 심어 산림의 생태적 안정성을 높이고 병해충 저항력을 한층 강화했다.
또한 편백을 비롯한 19개 수종, 총 21만 2726본을 심어 산림의 탄소흡수 기능을 높이고 미세먼지 저감과 수자원 보호 등 다양한 공익적 효과를 거둘 것으로 기대된다.
아울러 조림 이후 체계적인 사후관리 계획도 마련했다. 조림지의 조기 활착과 생육을 위해 초기 3~4년간은 연 2회 풀베기 작업을 실시하고, 5년 차 이후에는 어린나무 가꾸기와 가지치기를 진행할 예정이다.
10년 이상 경과 후에는 간벌작업을 실시하는 등 단계별 산림관리를 추진해 건강한 산림으로 육성할 계획이다.
