North Chungcheong Province Wins Minister of Employment and Labor’s ‘Special Award’ at ‘2026 National Local Government Job Awards’

North Chungcheong Province received the Special Award, presented by the Minister of Employment and Labor, at the ‘2026 National Local Government Job Awards’ ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and held at the Korea Press Center in Seoul.

The National Local Government Job Awards is the nation’s most prestigious evaluation in the employment sector, comprehensively assessing 243 metropolitan and basic local governments across the country regarding their performance in implementing the regional job target disclosure system, job creation achievements, and the creativity and execution capabilities of their policies. Following the Special Award in 2023, the Top Excellence Award in 2024, and the Grand Prize in 2025, North Chungcheong Province received the Special Award again in 2026, achieving a remarkable record of winning for four consecutive years. This recognition is the result of the province’s achievements in consistently leading a sustainable job policy implementation system and region-specific policies. In particular, North Chungcheong Province has maintained the nation's highest employment rate and has pursued multifaceted support for technology development, talent cultivation, and job placement linked to the growth of the semiconductor industry. Furthermore, it has boosted economic participation by expanding customized job opportunities for underutilized personnel, such as urban worker and urban farmer programs. The province received high praise for implementing close-knit employment policies, including a full package of support—covering job discovery, work experience, and long-term retention—for young people who have given up on job searching, improvements to working conditions in the food manufacturing industry based on win-win agreements between large corporations and their partners, and preemptive responses to employment crises in the secondary battery industry.

Taking this award as an opportunity, North Chungcheong Province plans to further advance its regional employment policies based on the comprehensive employment plan for the 9th popularly elected administration currently being formulated. The province has decided to concentrate its administrative efforts on creating high-quality jobs that residents can tangibly experience by redesigning all employment projects to be performance-oriented and establishing a systematic analysis and improvement management system. Kim Jin-seok, Director General of the Economic and Trade Bureau of Chungcheongbuk-do, stated that the province will build a sustainable job ecosystem where businesses and job seekers grow together, and further strengthen customized job opportunities for different demographics—including youth, women, and middle-aged workers—as well as the cultivation of talent for future new industries. He announced that the province will mobilize all of its policy capabilities to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to work and can experience tangible changes in their lives through employment.

Chungcheongbuk-do plans to continue establishing a virtuous cycle of job creation linked to the attraction of new industries and solidify job support networks for all demographics to firmly establish the foundation for the self-reliance of the regional economy.
