Jinju City Provides Additional Support with Immunity Boosters to Livestock Farms Amid Prolonged Heatwave
Alleviating High-Temperature Stress on Livestock and Reducing Farm Management Burden
Jinju City announced on the 24th that it will provide additional support with immunity boosters to mitigate damage to livestock farms, as concerns have arisen regarding high-temperature stress and weakened immunity in livestock due to the heatwave.
This support follows the emergency assistance provided in early August to 18 poultry farms raising over 5,000 chickens and ducks. It is being implemented to ease the burden on farms as additional support is provided in response to the prolonged heatwave.
If the heatwave persists, livestock feed intake, growth, and reproductive capabilities decrease, and immunity weakens, leading to reduced productivity and an increased risk of various diseases.
The city plans to supply an additional 3 tons of immunity boosters to 209 livestock farms raising Hanwoo cattle, beef cattle, dairy cows, and pigs, and will distribute them promptly through Eup, Myeon, and Dong offices.
The city also plans to continuously promote livestock management guidelines to farms to cope with the heatwave, including ensuring sufficient water supply, ventilation and air circulation in livestock barns, maintaining appropriate stocking densities, and adjusting feed intake during high-temperature periods.
