Cho Kuk Innovation Party Gwangju Chapter Raises Flag for ‘Guaranteed Victory in Local Elections’… Large-scale Rally to be Held on May 2
Leadership Leader Cho Kuk and Others to Turn Out… Entering Full-Scale Election Mode with Announcement of Around 20 Prospective Candidates A Countermeasure Against the Democratic Party’s One-Party Monopoly… Declaring, “We Will Change the Gwangju Political Landscape Through Politics for Everyday Life”
(Gwangju = Break News) Reporter Lee Hak-su = The Cho Kuk Innovation Party Gwangju Chapter is launching a full-scale rally to rally support ahead of the June 3 local elections.
The Cho Kuk Innovation Party Gwangju Chapter announced that it will hold the "2026 Local Election Guaranteed Victory Rally" at 2:00 PM on May 2 at the Music Industry Promotion Center (formerly KBS) in Nam-gu, Gwangju, marking the beginning of a grand march toward election victory.
A large contingent of the central party leadership, including Party Leader Cho Kuk and National Assembly members Seo Wang-jin and Kim Jun-hyung, is expected to attend the event to lend strength to expanding their influence in the Gwangju region. In addition, key figures from the Gwangju City Party and prospective candidates preparing for the local elections will gather to solidify their determination to win.
Starting with this rally, the Gwangju City Party plans to fully launch its election campaign by establishing "healthy competition for the change of Gwangju politics" and "the realization of tangible, everyday politics for citizens" as its core principles.
In particular, this rally is expected to serve as an occasion to emphasize the necessity of "checks and balances" in the political landscape of Gwangju, which has been monopolized by the Democratic Party of Korea. The Cho Kuk Innovation Party's strategy is to become an attractive alternative for voters by placing "everyday politics"—which goes beyond mere criticism to bring tangible changes to citizens' lives—at the forefront.
The event will open with pre-ceremony performances and a screening of videos on past activities, and will proceed in the following order: opening ceremony and introduction of guests, congratulatory remarks by key figures, and introduction of the election campaign committee.
The highlight of the event is the introduction of prospective candidates and the declaration of their resolution. The Gwangju City Chapter explained that approximately 20 candidates are scheduled to take the stage to personally present their political resolve and visions for regional development to the citizens.
The event is set to conclude by maximizing the solidarity of party members through a joint performance expressing hopes for victory in the local elections and a commemorative photo session.
An official from the Gwangju City Chapter of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party emphasized, “This convention goes beyond a simple party event and will serve as a starting point to open a new path for Gwangju politics,” adding, “We will demonstrate on the ground why ‘politics of daily life’ that transforms citizens’ lives and healthy competition are necessary.”
He further added, “As the participation of Gwangju citizens and party members marks the beginning of political innovation in Gwangju, we ask for your continued interest and support.”
